MRI safety

MRI safety is an important part of MRI. New employees will have to be well informed about what is and what is not allowed within the MRI room and around it.

MRI safety officers are increasingly deployed in radiology departments and they are partly responsible for the entire safety in the MRI department.

It is therefore important that everyone who comes into contact with an MRI knows well what the safety instructions are.

Furthermore, more and more patients have to be scanned with implants and it is very important to know under which conditions these patients can be scanned.

There are several options for MRI safety training. Particularly with MRI safety, it is recommended to combine a theoretical course with a hands-on session.

MRI safety basis:

  • General workflow safety: from the referring doctor to the patient on the table

  • Patients screening

  • Patient safety: positioning of patients, coils, cables,

  • Magnet safety: attraction, 5G line

  • RF pulses: SAR

MRI safety advanced:

  • Basic safety as described above

  • Patients size and weight versus SAR

  • RF strength (RF mode)

  • RF wavelength

  • Gradient strength (Gradient mode)

  • Spatial Field Gradient (Static Field Gradient)

  • MRI conditional scanning

  • Scanning implants

Customized MRI safety:

Tailor-made training is designed based on what is needed for MRI safety. A tailor-made MRI safety is a course for advanced users and will always be combined with a hands-on session so that protocols can be properly adapted to the different conditions within MRI safety and to clarify exactly what needs to be paid attention to in your own system. .
